Our story
You may be wondering who’s behind the Canberra Notice Board, well that would be me, Jason Bishop.
I often get asked how the idea for the Canberra Notice Board came about. The short answer is I was a stay at home parent when I came up with the idea of starting a community group on Facebook.
Being a stay at home parent can be quite isolating, and I thought by starting a group it may allow me to stay in touch with the outside world.
It wasn’t long before I realised there were people in similar positions to me, and there was a real need for a place where people could come together online.
What was once a little group has now grown to over fifty thousand members.
The Canberra Notice Board has become a resourceful tool for community news, events and information. It has also allowed a lot of people to seek recommendations and so on.
Following on from the success of the group, my wife and I launched the Canberra Notice Board Facebook page and website.
We’re really proud of the fact that we’ve been able to help people connect over the years.
